Welcome to the Counseling page!
__
Counseling services at KCCIS are intended to help students adjust to their various changing needs while progressing through adolescence into young adulthood. As your school counselor, I am here for you and will help you make your school experience the best it can be. I aim to assist students to develop appropriate skills and attitudes to resolve issues in personal, academic, and social contexts, as well as to develop a sense of self-worth which will contribute to making responsible choices for themselves.
I work with students, parents, and teachers in a variety of ways.
What can be discussed with a counselor?
Usually students come to see me for reasons which can broadly be divided into three areas, with examples given as shown below.
1. Personal Counseling:
friendship, family issues, bullying, self-esteem, Internet addiction, death and grief, drug abuse awareness,
suicide awareness.
2. Academic Support:
time management, exam skills, stress management, motivation, goal-setting
3. Education Planning:
post-secondary education, university entrance requirements, career choices, boarding schools, summer school. All through
Y7 to Y13, I advise and assist students in making course choices that will eventually lead to their areas of post-secondary
interests.
